CITY SAFE SELF STORAGE - HOW IT WORKS

We offer secure and flexible self storage units in a variety of sizes. Book the unit that is right for you, and store your items. With 24 hr opening at our sites you'll be able to access your stuff 7 days a week.

Entry and Exit


HOW DO I GET ENTRY TO MY UNIT?

With City Safe, you can enter the facility and your unit using just your mobile phone. Before your move in date, you will receive a text message to your mobile phone with instructions on how to set this up. It will require the download of a City Safe app from either the Apple or Android app stores. Downloading the app and gaining access is simple, but if you are in any doubt we recommend moving in on a week day, where we can be reached on the phone for any queries.

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE APP?

Follow the instructions on the text message sent to you, which will take you to the Apple or Android app stores, depending on which device you have.

I DON’T HAVE AN APPLE OR ANDROID DEVICE. CAN I STILL GET ACCESS?

Yes you can, though you will need to use a Fob which requires a deposit payment. Call us on 0114 205 1517 if you require one, either before or after booking your storage unit.

WHY WON’T THE GATES/DOORS/UNIT DOOR OPEN FOR ME?

Please ensure mobile data and blue tooth are both turned on. If it is not opening for another reason, contact us on 0114 205 1517.

*Please note the front entrance is automated, do not push or pull them as access is through your app.

SAME DAY MOVE IN

Same day moves in are available during the following hours:

Monday - Saturday: 0900 - 1700hrs
Sundays & Bank Holidays: 1000 - 1600hrs

WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?

Our site is open 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year.

Our phone lines are open Monday - Saturday, 0900 - 1700hrs.
Sunday and Bank holidays, 1000 - 1600hrs.

WILL THERE BE ANY EMPLOYEES ON SITE WHEN I ARRIVE?

Unless you have previously arranged to meet a member of our team on site, it is unlikely there will be any employees on site when you arrive.

Packing and Unloading my stuff 

IS THERE ANYONE ON SITE TO HELP ME UNLOAD OR LOAD MY STUFF?

While employees are sometimes on site, you should always plan to unload and store your items yourself.

ARE THERE ANY STEPS TO ENTER THE FACILITY?

The Sheffield site is on the lower ground floor, most units are on the main level, however there are a few units down a further short flight of stairs into the basement. 

HOW CLOSE CAN I PARK TO MY UNIT?

While there is no parking on site, the council have confirmed deliveries and drop offs can be made; however traffic enforcement is at your own risk. While employees are sometimes on site, you should always plan to unload and occupy your unit yourself and bring your own assistance if required. 

Depending on car park availability, you will be able to park within a 6 minute walk of the facility.  

ARE THERE ANY DOLLYS OR TROLLEYS AT THE SITE TO AID WITH UNLOADING/PACKING?

There may be dollys or trolleys on site to help you with unloading, but these are not always available and may not be suitable for your needs. Please plan to bring your own assistance if required.

I NEED BOXES AND PACKING MATERIALS. DO YOU SELL THEM?

Not at the moment but we are happy to recommend local companies that do.

Booking my unit


HOW MUCH ARE STORAGE UNITS?

City Safe is one of only a few self storage businesses to publish their prices and availability online. We are one of the even fewer who take bookings online. Check the SEE PRICES page for current special offers and prices.

HOW MUCH DO STORAGE UNITS COST?

Prices vary according to the size of unit you need. Check the BOOK NOW page for current special offers and prices.

CAN I BOOK ONLINE?

Yes you can. Simply follow the online instructions and you can complete your booking.

CAN I BOOK BY PHONE?

Yes, though it will take longer and the lowest available prices are online.

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE THERE?

You can pay using any major debit or credit card, including American Express.

CAN I CANCEL BEFORE I MOVE IN EVEN THOUGH I’VE SENT YOU MY PAYMENT DETAILS?

Yes you can. To cancel your booking, either log in to your City Safe account online, or call us on 0114 205 1517. You will not be charged if you cancel 24 hours before your move in date.

CAN I CHANGE MY PAYMENT CARD?

Yes you can. Log into your City Safe account, click on 'View Payment Details' and add a new card.

Moving out


I WANT TO MOVE OUT AND/OR CANCEL FUTURE PAYMENTS. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

The quickest way to move out is to log into your City Safe account online and cancel. If you require any assistance, call us on 0114 205 1517.

I WANT TO MOVE OUT IMMEDIATELY. CAN I GET A REFUND ON PAYMENTS MADE TO DATE?

You can move out at any time (subject to opening hours). However, payments are made monthly in advance and are non-refundable.

Liability Protection


DO I HAVE TO INSURE MY GOODS?

Our Self Storage Agreement requires you to either: accept our enhanced liability protection under StoreProtect; or arrange insurance at your own expense for your stated Maximum Reinstatement Value for the duration of storage. Please refer to our StoreProtect page for more information.
